Welcome to the pond, fairyfoot If you have run out of time at least 3 times, the untimed mode artifact will be unlocked. To switch artifacts, click on the lighted box near the bottom left of the game screen or the lighted box in the center of the board preview screen. Then you can pick whatever artifact you want in the next screen (the untimed mode one is on the top row, I think it's the second from the left). Chapter 5, board 11 is a difficult board to play because you need a lot of fuel and the traps are stuck in the corners with hard to reach spots around them. See the threads about 'footprint levels' or 'disarm trap' boards in this forum if you need more tips on how to play this type of board.
Hi diamondpearl, you have to move the gray footprint over to all the X's to clear the X's, then the footprint will disappear too and the board will complete (since you turned the rest of the spaces gold already). Each square that the gray footprint moves costs 1 fuel point, so if your fuel counter reaches zero match some more of the green footprint tiles to get more fuel. This strategy applies to any board that has the gray footprint and X's. Hope that helps. Edit-I forgot that the space that the gray footprint starts out in also has to be turned gold, so you will have to match over that area after you have moved the gray footprint away from there.
Edited on at 3:22:55 PM PST. Welcome to the pond, GrannyJu1 The cutoff for gold on that board is around 12,500 points. It is one of the harder boards to ace if you are playing unassisted. If you are using the amulets I would suggest the red turtle so you can extend the timer.
It helps if you have a good setup down at the bottom of the board at the beginning because the narrow columns are so hard to reach. This is pretty much a requirement if you want to get the gold without help.
I try to get the spaces at the bottom done as soon as possible, then work on filling the lowest cages before the upper ones. Hope that helps.
Edited on at 4:53:15 PM PST. Welcome to the pond, lovejq I lost my hard drive last month and haven't gotten around to replaying the game yet. I can't remember what chapter 5 optional 5 looks like but you don't have to play that one to finish the game. It is only if you want to get the gold rank in the chapter that you have to play everything.
As for board 11 in the same chapter, you can switch to untimed mode by picking the second artifact from the top left in the artifacts screen. This is a tricky board because of the tight bottom corners needing two horizontals to fall into place (or set up carefully) and needing a lot of fuel to move the gray footprint over to all three red X's scattered around in the corners. There are a number of threads about 'disarm trap' boards and I think there are a few about chapter 5 board 11 in particular in this forum that you may want to check out as well. Hope that helps.
